Autumn is in full swing and so are the deer, the annual rut now well underway.
The rut starts in late September and finishes early November. October usually finds the stags and hinds on their rutting stands, and weather dependant sees the most activity.

Hinds mounting stags, it is suggested that this activity signals to stags that the hind is ready to mate and gets the attention of the stag. Certainly true in this case as the stag once the hind had dismounted mated with this hind.
