Osprey - Pandion haliaetus

Canon 600mm f4 for 1/6400th @ iso400
After three weeks the Osprey yesterday (9/6) turned up at the reservoir early doors made a catch and as usual headed off towards Hatton - sometime later the bird came back over the res at a reasonable height a height which indicated it was not fishing and flew towards and disappeared in the direction of Warrington. Without getting teary eyed about it it kind of did have a finality about as the bird seemed to fly off in that direction with purpose. The weather over the last few weeks has been dire interspersed with some good days to have the camera pointed at the sky, and on those days it was good to see this bird either simply using the thermals above the reservoir or actively catching fish.
Its presence at the reservoir was often marked by the Lesser Black-backed, Herring and Black-headed gulls mobbing it, the Osprey no matter how the close the gulls got never flinched and simply wheeled around the reservoir.
